  Our classes are taught at the Skokie Lagoons, a wildlife refuge just north of Chicago. Students usually see deer, great blue heron, gray heron, turtles, and many other variety of birds.  The water is calm and peaceful - an ideal location for learning to kayak!   GPS coordinates N 42° 06.825 W 087° 46.493
Getting there by Train
 Take the Metra to Hubbards Woods Station - this is on the Metra Union Pacific North Line  the boat launch is on Tower Road about a 20-30 minute walk west of the Station. It measures in at just over a mile and a half. This is a beautiful walk past some wonderful homes. Usually you can get a ride back to the station from a classmate.  Walk down Tower Road, heading West towards 94.  You will pass a parking lot that says Tower Road Parking Lot, go just past that to the large sign that says Tower Road Boat Launch, - that is a long parking lot, walk thru to the end to the boat launch. We are parked at the end, usually right next to the launch.

Getting there by Bike
The Forest Preserve District of Cook County has a web page devoted to this trail. It passes right by the lagoons and the boat launch which is north of Willow Road and just south of Tower (the driveway entrance is on Tower)  If you ride your bike, you will pass within 20 feet of the truck and trailer!  Visit the FPDCC for a map and detailed trail info

 		 Getting there by Car
 Please bring a map with you  We are located on Tower Road at the Tower Road Boat Launch just east of the Eden's Exit.  
From Chicago -Heading north on 94, get off at Willow Road and head east, you go to just past the forest preserve , then turn left on Forest Way Drive. Take that to the next Stop sign and go left.  This is Tower Road.  We are just a bit down the road, on the left.  You will pass a parking lot that says Tower Road Parking Lot, go just past that You will drive over a small bridge which spans the Lagoons then turn left into the parking area. to the large sign that says Tower Road Boat Launch, - that is a long parking lot, drive thru to the end to the boat launch. We are parked at the end, usually right next to the launch. If you hit the highway you have gone too far.

From Southwest Suburbs- Take 294 north and exit at Willow. Take Willow to Forestway drive (see directions above)

From the North, Take 94 towards Chicago and exit at Tower. Go east onto Tower (you will follow the frontage road to get to Tower and you will go back over the highway)  The boat launch is on your right, just about 100 feet after going over the highway.

Green Bay Trail - take this to Tower and head west.  the boat launch is about 1.2 miles on the left - look for the sign that says Tower Road Boat Launch.
